The Emergence of the Antique and Curiosity Dealer in Britain 1815-1850

The Emergence of the Antique and Curiosity Dealer in Britain 1815-1850

Rather than the customary focus on the activities of individual collectors, this book illuminates the less-examined roles played by dealers in the antique and curiosity collecting markets. It draws on a wide range of archival material - principally the archive of London dealer John Coleman Isaac - to place the activities of the dealer in relation to a broad historical and cultural landscape.
